Pen and Stu are an acoustic duo who have been playing together since 2014 and released their eagerly awaited debut album in March 2017 - “so far…songs of love, loss and pirates” with nationwide radio airplays from Express FM Portsmouth, Triangle Radio Gloucester, Beyond Radio Lancaster, Blues and Roots Radio, Zetland FM Redcar, BCB Bradford and Vixen FM Hull, Box online Radio, Folk Garden Show Eden FM, Radio Winchcombe Folk Show, Bishop Auckland FM as well as BBC Introducing North Yorkshire. Pen and Stu regularly gig in art centres, bars and folk clubs across Yorkshire and beyond from Bath to Holy Island, as well as playing at music & beer festivals over the summer months. They have a number of festival bookings for 2018 including Filey, Great North and Beverley Folk Festivals and Haworth Folk Rhythm and Blues Festival, Cottingham Springboard Music Festival, several beer festivals, as well as a number of live radio appearances/interviews.

 

They delight audiences with their own original material, which has strong haunting vocals, driving rhythm guitar and melodious bass lines. Pen and Stu are both accomplished performers playing a number of various instruments, and different music genres in a number of different types of bands over the years. Penny McFarlane-Bedford - lead vocals, acoustic and tenor guitar, ukulele, whistles and banjo. Stuart McFarlane-Bedford - backing vocals, bass guitars, acoustic guitars (6 & 12 String) and banjo.
