I'm an amateur lyricist and songwriter from Oldham. I have no formal music training - I am totally self-taught and have managed to write multiple pieces of music in different genres; pop, dance, rock, orchestral and children's. I have made the semi finals of the UK Songwriting competition with 3 of my songs in the past and I have just rewritten a song of mine called I've Tried which was produced by Gold and Platinum winning producer Rob Macloed who works at Real World Studios and Abbey Road studios - the song was mastered at Abbey Road by Alex Jordan. I have 3 songs fully produced: 'Hot Tonight', 'Baby, without you' and 'I've tried' - I have a few others on my Soundcloud account which I hope to fully finish and produce one day, especially my orchestral piece which has been a labour of love due to the complexities of writing for a complete orchestra when your knowledge is limited. I also have a music box lullaby which I wrote for my grandson on my account - I hope to turn this into a complete string arrangement one day.
My ambition is to meet a good arranger or producer who can help me to realise what's in my head as I really struggle to write what I can hear and subsequently my songs don't sound anywhere near as good as I think they could be as I believe I have good, strong melodies and decent lyrics. I am currently working on a new song but am having difficulty with it as I'm not sure what direction I want to take it. I also wrote and produced my own version of Cinderella with some original songs in 2001 which was performed in Oldham in 2001 for 5 nights. I work as a shoe repairer, key cutter and engraver and I am a married father to five children and a grandfather to one. I enjoy playing the keyboard and guitar, reading and carpentry.
